Foundation SSP Litter Announcement - Kenny x Maggie

Hello SSP Followers!

We’re excited to announce the second litter that we hope will help found the future of this project!

11 puppies were born June 17th in Holmesville, OH out of Maggie Sue and Kenny. There are 5 boys and 4 girls available.

Pups are Ready for homes August 14th.

After researching both the sire and dam’s siblings, we felt confident enough in this match to select a male of our own!

The goal is to get as many of these pups as possible in project homes to begin tracking health/hip & temperament data on them.

Sire: Kenny (Colonel’s Rocky Top x Colonel’s Reese)
DOB: 11/01/18
OFA Score: Good
Height: 25”
Weight: 61lbs
Color: Black and tan with white on chest
Description: Kenny is an energetic guy who joyfully greeted us with his frisbee. His movement is light and bouncy with no signs of lameness. On the farm he is used to move cattle and shows high biddability in this task, along with any other jobs asked of him. He did not display any reactivity, only a desire to engage visitors in a game of frisbee by dropping it at our feet. He did not bark excessively, and laid at his owners feet when asked.
Family Data: After interviewing 9 of Kenny’s sibling owners (dogs aged 9 months to 5 years) we found consistency across them in regard to temperament. All were highly human social and either dog submissive or dog friendly. No health concerns were found at time of interviews. High energy and biddability were reported across the board, this group of sibling presenting strong desire to please their families in a relaxed and confident manner.

Dam: Maggie Sue (Weaver’s Balto x Weaver’s Sheba (I))
DOB: 04/01/16
OFA Score: Moderate Dysplasia
Height: 25”
Weight: 65lbs
Color: Black and tan
Description: Maggie is a sweet lady who came right up to us for attention, she is a registered therapy dog who joins her mom on regular visits to nursing homes. While we chatted Maggie rested with a bone that she had no problem sharing with the her owner or other dogs.

Maggie suffered a traumatic injury to her back left leg as a 2 year old in which she lost a toe and tore her ACL, so she does walk with a limp. Her hips have moderate dysplasia - a family datapoint we are working to uncover the prevalence of by testing more members of the family. Despite this Maggie was happy go lucky lady who took excellent care of her puppies while hosting guests.

Family Data: Maggie comes from the Weaver dogs we wish to help preserve. We have collected data on all the dogs listed in the graphic below, where we have found a stable temperament to be an unwavering trait amongst all.

In addition to collecting info on Maggie and Kenny, we were able to meet their daughter Ellie who just turned a year. At 46lbs and 23” she was an athletic charmer who also wanted us to join in on a game of fetch. Her 5 week old siblings loved to climb all over her and Ellie didn’t mind at all, often playing with them carefully. We were really impressed with Ellie’s overall confidence, athleticism, and infectious warmth.

Minko is Ellie’s sister from the same litter, and her owner reports she is both dog and human social with no reactivity. She lives in a VA suburb and enjoys family adventures and hikes on the Appalachia and surrounding trails.

If interested in a puppy please contact us and we’ll be happy to answer any of your questions!
