Welcome to the Shadow Shepherd Project!

English Shepherds are often referred to as ‘shadows’ due to their intense bond and desire to work alongside their people. This defining trait is at the heart of our project, and the origin of its name.

This project is an effort to record temperament and health data on English Shepherds. We’d like to collaborate with others in the breed to preserve the social characters of this breed, while improving on structure and health in subsequent generations.

It is our hope that breeders will see the value in screening whole sibling groups and be inspired to pursue similar evaluation efforts in their own programs. We wish to promote transparency and cooperation for the good of the breed.
